When visiting Garner & Nichols Dental, you will be asked to complete paperwork and answer questions about your current health and any medications you take.
This information is needed for proper and safe care when visiting any health professional, because the medicines we take sometimes have side effects that can affect treatment options as well as your overall health.
In addition to the prescription medications you are taking, let your dentist know about any over-the-counter medicines you are taking, including:
- Aspirin and other pain relievers
- Antacids
- Cold and allergy medicines
- Cough lozenges or syrups
- Injected medications (e.g. insulin, hormones)
- Medicine patches (e.g. fentanyl, nicotine)
In addition to your medications, also disclose any supplements or vitamins you may be taking.
Make a List
If you’re taking multiple medications, make a list that you (or anyone providing treatment) can use as a reference. The list should include:
- The name of each medication
- The dosage
- How often you take it
- The name of the prescriber (if applicable)
Bring this list with you for dental or medical appointments, and remember to update the list whenever there is a change.
